Anthony F. Rykiel, 89, a 54 yr resident of Pasadena, died peacefully, January 19, 2020, with family at his side.
Born in Baltimore on August 11, 1930, he was preceded in death by his parents, Anthony and Veronica, sister Veronica, brothers Gilbert and Albert. He was a graduate of Patterson High School. A Veteran of the U.S. Navy, Tony proudly served for six years and from 1950—1954 was on the USS Douglas H. Fox during the Korean War. He worked for a short time at Sparrows Point, then most of his career was a Production Supervisor at Westinghouse from which he retired in 1990.
Tony enjoyed bowling and coaching Havenwood Little League in his younger years, and was passionate about professional and college sports. He was an avid crabber and was known for his authentic homemade Polish kielbasa. He also enjoyed baking, attending Polish festivals, Polka music, boating, attending his Naval reunions, gardening, lawn care, and his dog, Scout, his best buddy. Tony was a gracious and generous man and a faithful friend with a strong spirit. He will be dearly missed.
He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Marilyn (nee Chiveral), sister MaryAnn, five children Diana, Stephen, Joseph, Toni, and Maria, six grandchildren Jessica, Joseph, Jared, Jade, Michelle and Sean, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are invited to call at the family owned and operated MCCULLY-POLYNIAK FUNERAL HOME, P.A. 3204 Mountain Road PASADENA on Thursday, January 23, 2020 from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 PM. A Funeral Mass will be held on Friday, in St. Jane Frances Church 8399 Virginia Avenue, PASADENA at 9:30 AM. Interment Crownsville Veterans Cemetery.
