Alan Frederick Nethen (67) passed away suddenly on Tuesday, January 7th. He is survived by his wife, Rhonda (nee Pfister), two daughters, Heather Tranquill and Allison Jennings, son-in-law James Tranquill, granddaughter, Jamie Tranquill, and his sister, Bonnie Howatt. He was preceded in death by his parents, Adolph and Marie Nethen and his brothers Robert and Jack Nethen.
Alan grew up in Glen Burnie, attended Severna Park High School (Class of ’64), and is a University of Baltimore graduate. While at Severna Park High, Alan was the captain of the football team. He is most known for his work in the sign industry as owner of Claude Neon Signs and with Arundel Federal Savings Bank where he was a Director on the Board. Alan also joined Gable Signs and Graphics in 2003 where he served as Director of Permits. Alan and Rhonda lived in Pasadena for 40 years. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends and will be remembered for his laughter and love.
Visitation will be held at the family owned and operated MCCULLY-POLYNIAK FUNERAL HOME, P.A. 3204 Mountain Road PASADENA on Saturday, January 11th from 3-5pm and 7-9pm and again on Sunday, January 12th from 2-3pm with a memorial service to follow at 3pm. Please, no flowers. Contributions may be made in his memory to a charity of one’s choice.
