Angela Aponte

Angela Aponte, affectionately known as “Mom”, “Gela”, “Grandma,” and “Mamita,” passed away peacefully at home on Wednesday, December 11, 2024, at the age of 82, surrounded by the warmth and love of her family. Born on August 2, 1942, in Santa Isabel, Puerto Rico. Angela was the first daughter/second child of Santos Torres and Carlos Aponte.She was preceded in death by her parents; siblings Carlos “Cao,” Victor, and Rosa and her beloved great-grand-pet Graham. She is survived by her devoted daughter Lillian (only child), her three grandchildren, Benito, Yessica, and Angelica; two great-grandchildren, Zyra and Jaxon; her great-grand-pet Kiwi and her siblings Luis and Virginia. Angela’s nurturing spirit extended far beyond her family. She became a beloved mother figure to many, who affectionately called her “Mom” and found comfort in her warmth and care, to include her daughter’s fellow Navy sailors. Throughout her life, Angela dedicated herself to caring for others, holding various jobs in New York and Puerto Rico, including working in textile and clothing factories. Most notably, she provided child and elder care services for families over several decades before retiring in 2007. Angela was a woman of many passions, from crocheting intricate doilies and solving number search puzzles to cooking authentic Puerto Rican dishes, bowling, nurturing her vast collection of plants, and enjoying her favorite novelas.

Relatives and friends are invited to visit at the family owned and operated MCCULLY POLYNIAK & COLLINS FUNERAL HOME, P.A. 3204 Mountain Road PASADENA on Sunday, December 15, 2024, from 12:00 to 4:00 pm and again on Monday, December 16, 2024, from 9:00 am to 1:00 pm. Funeral services will be held on Monday at 1:00 pm. Cremation services to follow.
