Anthony Bernard Quigley of Glen Burnie, MD passed away peacefully on August 17, 2024, at the age of 86. He was a loving husband to Dorothy E. Quigley (nee Wancowicz) to whom he was married for over 61 years. Tony was a devoted father to Kathleen Cowan and husband Randy, Michael Quigley and wife Kim, Steve Quigley and wife Toni, Janet Sumner and husband Stephen; cherished grandfather to Kristin Cowan and Adam, Justin Cowan and wife Sara, Jacob Cowan, Shannon Sumner, Ryan Sumner, Emma Quigley and Aidan Quigley; cherished great-grandfather to Jackson Cowan. He was predeceased by his parents James and Margaret Quigley, his brothers James, Robert, and John Quigley, and his sister Margaret Michael. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews and other close family and friends.
Tony grew up in Locust Point in Baltimore where he attended Our Lady of Good Counsel. He graduated from Mount Saint Joseph High School in 1956, completed two years of college for accounting, and attended the USAF Technical School. He served six years in the United States Air Force Reserve. Tony served as Vice President of Augusta Savings & Loan for 20 years, then as Vice President of Northfield Federal Savings Bank for 18 years, and finished his long career as Administrative Operations Manager for Patapsco Bank. He was a member of The Holy Name Society and an active member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church (now Christ the King in Glen Burnie) for 38 years.
Tony was an accomplished soccer player, part of the “All Maryland” Team. He played soccer from childhood through age 25 and later coached little league soccer for St. Anthony of Padua in Baltimore. He enjoyed crabbing, fishing, home improvements, woodworking and building furniture, bowling and Irish music. He was a talented musician, who enjoyed playing the accordion and the piano. He loved spending time with his children and grandchildren and would do anything for his family. Tony was a passionate Ravens and Orioles fan. He loved all sports and—perhaps most of all—cheering on his grandchildren at their local sports events over many years.
