Antonino Gentile, a 32 year resident of Pasadena, was called home to the Lord on January 12, 2022 at the age of 72 at Baltimore/Washington Medical Center.
A beloved and dedicated husband to Paula Maria Bianca his wife of 45 years, devoted father of three children, Marco, Bianca & Franco and loving grandfather to Francesca, Gabriel, Adrianna, Gabriella, Harold, and a grandson on the way.
He is preceded in death by his parents Giuseppe and Angela Gentile, and sister Lina DiFrancesca. He is survived by his brother Nicola, Filippo, Maria, & Enrico of Catania, Italy.
Antonino (Nino) was born in the town of Agira, located west of Catania in Sicily Italy. In 1973 at the age of 24, Nino made a trip to the United States to visit his sister Lina in Baltimore, Maryland. It was here his life was changed forever where he met his wife of 45 years, Paula Maria Bianca. Nino and Paula were married on July 4, 1976.
As a dedicated and committed husband and father, Nino worked his craft as a welder for nearly 50 years. First as a young man traveling throughout Italy and north Africa, then in the United States for a year at Bethlehem Steel, and then Baltimore Gas & Electric for the next 40 years out of the Spring Garden campus in Downtown Baltimore.
Retired in 2013, Nino started a new season of his life, enjoying his grandchildren, riding his John Deere lawn mower, and endless mornings Home Depot. Nino enjoyed spending time with family, playing Sicilian cards games, briscola and scopa while drinking espresso and telling stories.
Always a faith filled man of God, Nino attended Our Lady of the Chesapeake and was a proud member of the Knights of Columbus and Our Lady’s Men.
Nino was a kind and loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend. He will be greatly missed by so many who were part of his life.
The family will have a private viewing but will be available for greeting and visitation on Friday January 14th at 1:45 - 2:30 pm. The Knights of Columbus will have a rosary beginning at 10:30 am Tuesday, January 18, 2022 in the Our Lady of the Chesapeake Church 8325 Ventnor Road PASADENA followed by a Mass of Christian burial beginning at 11 am.
As an alternative to flowers, the family also asks that you consider a contribution be made to The Family Apostolate Inc for the building of a home of special needs children in Nigeria
