Arthur David States, 85, died peacefully Tuesday September 1, 2015 with his daughter by his side.
Arthur, or Herm as known by his friends, was born July 27, 1930 in Baltimore to David Arthur States and Anita Ihrie. His brother Paul States preceded him in death.
Herm was a loving husband and caretaker to his wife Mary of 60 years. He was a loving, caring father to his three children, David States, Elizabeth (Terry) States, and Elaine Gembicki-Mullins.
Herm served 3 years in the United States Air Force. After he was honorably discharged, he started his working career as a barber and then transitioned to a warehouse worker for the A&P grocery stores. He completed his working career with Baltimore County Public School system in the food distribution center.
When Herm retired, he cared for his two granddaughters Emily Gembicki and Kate Gembicki. He also has another granddaughter, Kristen States.
A graveside service will be held on Thursday, September 3, 2015 at 1PM at New Cathedral Cemetery, 4300 Old Frederick Rd, Baltimore, MD 21229.
