Beverly Ann Crabbs (Payne) died on January 27, 2015 in Annapolis after a long and heroic battle with rheumatoid arthritis. She was 61 years old.
Beverly was born on June 19, 1953 in Baltimore, MD to her parents, John Earl Payne, Sr. and Audrey Lillian Payne. She married James Michael Crabbs in 1998 and moved to Lancaster, PA. Beverly formally worked for Bernard B. Cohen & Company in Baltimore, MD and the Solanco School District in Quarryville, PA. Beverly did extensive volunteer work for the Arthritis Foundation in Maryland and Pennsylvania. Her efforts were recognized with Certificates of Appreciation in both states and the Maryland Governor’s Volunteer Award. Beverly also received a Certificate of Appreciation for her numerous volunteer hours with the Railroad Museum of Pennsylvania in Strasburg, PA.
She is preceded in death by her brother, John Earl Payne, Jr. She is survived by her husband, James M Crabbs, her sister-in-law, Eileen J Payne, her nephews John Earl Payne, III and Jason Andrew Payne and his wife Kimberly Payne, her niece, Christy Crawford and her husband Eric Crawford, and seven great nieces and nephews. She is also survived by her former husband, George K Schriver and many friends. Bev was a patient and supportive woman with a passion for helping others. She was an inspiration to everyone who knew her and will be greatly missed by all whose lives she touched.
Beverley’s ashes will be buried next to her parents in a private ceremony. A memorial service will take place on Saturday, March 7th at 1:00 p.m. at The Unitarian Universalist Church of Annapolis; 333 Dubois Road; Annapolis, MD 21012.
