Treff, Carlton John, Sr. beloved husband of Elaine E. Treff (Nee Seeger) devoted father of Carlton J. Treff, Jr. and his wife Angela, Douglas M. Treff and his wife Janet and the late Gary Allen Treff, dear brother of the late Carol Mettee, loving grandfather of Dylan M. Treff, Alexander Sang Yong Treff., and Aidan Kai Treff .
Mr. Treff was born in Maryland on June 2, 1932 to Carlton and Katherine Treff and died in the Baltimore-Washington Medical Center on February 2, 2015. He graduated from Edison Vocational HS for Mechanical Drafting in 1952. Graduated from USCG Electronics Technician School in 1953 with the rank of ET3, He was stationed on the USCGC Courier in Rhodes, Greece for 18 months. The Courier was a Voice of America ship with 3 high power transmitters sending programs behind the iron curtain in 13 languages. After achieving the rank of ET1 in the spring of 1955 he was transferred to a buoy repair base at the foot of Clinton St., Baltimore, MD. While there he ran a small electronics shop which maintained the electronics on 2 Tug boats, 2 buoy tenders, 6 - 40 foot patrol boats and 8 lighthouses.
After mustering out in October of 1956 he was hired by Westinghouse Electric Co. where he worked at various locations, ending his 39 year career as a test engineer at the Oceanic Division near Annapolis.
In retirement he became a volunteer at the National Aquarium in Baltimore. He enjoyed music and was a 30 + year member, and assistant director of the Barbershop Harmony Society's Chorus of the Chesapeake. He was the Bass in the barbershop quartet "Calliope" where he entertained on the WW II Liberty Ship "John Brown" for many years. He was a member of the Emmanuel Lutheran Church of Stoney Creek since 1952 where he sang in the choir. He also enjoyed cruising the Bay in his sailboat.
Relatives and friends are invited to call at the family owned and operated MCCULLY-POLYNIAK FUNERAL HOME, P.A. 3204 Mountain Road PASADENA on Sunday and Monday 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 PM. Mr. Treff will Lie-In-State in the Emmanuel Lutheran Church on Tuesday from 10:30 to 11 AM at which time funeral services will be held. Interment Glen Haven Memorial Park Cemetery.
