Charles W. Brasse, Jr. passed away on Monday, February 13, 2017 at his home in Pasadena, MD.
Born May 24, 1923 the son of Charles Wesley Brasse, Sr. and Elizabeth Willis Ames.
Charles served his country in WWII as a radio operator aboard a Victory ship in the Merchant Marine. He also served in the Maryland State Guard.
Charlie graduated from Forest Park High School in Baltimore. He studied electrical engineering at Johns Hopkins University. He was an engineer at Bendix, Glenn L. Martin, AAI, and Westinghouse. He held several patents and worked on defense projects. He retired in 1987 at age 63.
Charlie had dual careers. He was also a musician who studied with Peabody. He played the upright and electric bass and trumpet. He traveled with the Johnny Bothwell band and played with the Pier Five Jazz Band.
Charlie enjoyed travel, cars and boats, He was very proud to have obtained his United States Coast Guard captain's license to carry passengers on vessels under 25 tons.
In addition to his lifetime love and wife of 33 years, Patricia Barland Brasse, he is survived by a daughter, Denise DeJonge (David), a son Charles Wesley Brasse, III, a step-daughter, Candice Helms (Steve) and a step-son, Craige (Donna). Charlie was a loving husband, father and friend.
No service is planned at this time. A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
Memorial contributions in his honor may be sent to the Chesapeake Arts Center, ATTN: Scholarships, 194 Hammonds Lane, Brooklyn Park, MD 21225. The Scholarship Program allows children with limited resources to enroll in the arts program.
