Charles William (Bill) O’Neill Jr., 76, went to be with the Lord on April 5, 2022 after a long battle with ALS. Born on January 9, 1946 to the late Charles W. O’Neill and Ruth E. (Herche) O’Neill. Husband to the late Sue C. (Brown) O’Neill, he leaves behind many family members and loved ones. Father of Carol S. Dunn (Scott), Gary T. O’Neill, (Patty), Patrick L. O’Neill (Mackie) and the late Michael W., Shane T., and Shawn D. O’Neill. Pop to Heather O’Neill, Brittney Alexander (Jon), Sean Dunn, Bethanie O’Neill, Jake Stokes, Kaytlynn O’Neill, Taylor Ballard (Seth), and Gary O’Neill Jr. Great grandpop to Joshua, Leland, Piper, Shane, Bradan, Emily, and Sharlotte. Brother to Patricia Renes (Mike) and Nancy Donaldson (Mike). Survived by many family and friends.
Born and raised in Brooklyn Park, MD. He played on the Brooklyn Park baseball team that won the Maryland Little League State Championship in 1958. A graduate of Brooklyn Park High School, he always loved cars from the time he was little and rode with his dad in the big rigs to when he got his own car and license. He loved racing on the street or at the drag strip. A lifetime mechanic and a car enthusiast, Bill was well known at Capital Raceway where he raced his ‘65 GTO the “Irishman”. Racing at the drag strip was a family weekend event as his sons grew and loved the sport also.
Bill was an avid boater and was Commodore of the White Rocks Yacht Club in 2004. He enjoyed cruising the bay, fishing and crabbing and having everyone over for fresh steamed crabs. He was well loved by all.
A celebration of life service will be held at Linthicum Heights United Methodist Church 200 School Lane Linthicum MD 21090 on Friday April 8, 2022 at 10:30 am followed by a graveside service at Loudon Park Cemetery 6320 Wilkens Avenue Baltimore MD 21229.
