David Matthew Cox, Sr., known affectionately as Dave, passed away on May 20, 2024, at Baltimore Washington Medical Center. He was born on January 12, 1939, in Maryland. David led a fulfilling life filled with love and laughter.
Dave proudly served in the United States Army for 2 years before embarking on a successful career as a Chemical Specialist at Lever Brothers. His dedication and expertise in the field left a lasting impact on those around him.
Outside work, Dave was a man of diverse interests and vibrant personality. He had a feisty spirit and a sociable nature that endeared him to all who had the pleasure of knowing him. Dave found joy in simple pleasures such as fishing, hunting, knife collecting, and exploring flea markets.
Despite his busy schedule, Dave always made time for his family and friends. He was a devoted husband to Barbara J. Cox and a loving father to Matt Cox (Colleen) and B. Christine Overstreet (Rob). His legacy lives on through his grandchildren: Gage, Shaun (Erin), Koby (Beth) and Dan. Great grandchildren Mason, Adley and Charlie. As well as siblings Kenneth Hart and Sharon Hart Wagner.
In his final moments, Dave was surrounded by his loved ones as he peacefully passed away after a brief illness. He leaves behind cherished memories that will be treasured forever by all who were fortunate enough to have known him.
Dave is reunited in heaven with his father George Cox, mother Erma Hart, stepfather Derward Hart, brother Carroll Cox, sister Patsy Himelrick and other loved ones who have gone before him.
The services to honor and celebrate Dave's life will be held at the family owned and operated McCully Polyniak & Collins Funeral Home, P.A. 3204 Mountain Road Pasadena, Maryland 21122 on May 22nd for viewing from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM and from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM. The funeral service will take place on May 23rd at 11:00 AM at the same location followed by burial at Cedar Hill Cemetery in Brooklyn Park.
In remembrance of Dave's extraordinary life—his kind heart, unwavering spirit, and enduring love—may we find solace in the memories we shared with him. Though he may no longer be with us physically, his legacy lives on eternally in our hearts.
