David (Dave) Donald Dori passed away peacefully in his home on Thursday May 19, 2022. He is survived by his wife Barbara Ann (McNamara) of 55 years, his son David Lamberto, daughter Ann-Marie and son-in-law David Moore. He was preceded in death by his brother William John, mother Mary (Benvenuti), father Lamberto Hector, and beloved pets Schatzie and Trixie.
Dave was born on March 1, 1942, in Woonsocket, RI. Called Saint David by many, Dave devoted his life to his family, friends, and country. He graduated in 1963 as an ROTC Officer from Providence College with a degree in Economics. After serving with the United States Army in Korea for 18 months in the Signal Corps during the DMZ Conflict, Dave was stationed at Fort Monmouth, NJ where he met Barbara, the love of his life.
Dave went on to have a successful career as an International Program Manager with Westinghouse, which gave him the opportunity to travel extensively. Dave retired early from Westinghouse to focus on running his heating and HVAC business Alcap Inc. alongside his protégé Keith Gilles, where he continued to help solve his customers’ most challenging problems until the end of his life. Dave was a die-hard New England sports fan and talented piano player. He loved traveling, scuba diving, throwing crab feasts, playing cards and baseball, dancing with his wife, and telling jokes and detailed stories of his many adventures.
Dave was generous, never met a stranger and was always quick with a laugh with a kind word. For those that knew and loved Dave, the world feels a little less bright without him. After dedicating the last two and a half years to caring for his ailing wife, Dave has placed his burden down and has returned home but lives on in our memories and hearts. May his laughter never fade from our memory.
