Eileen Lee

April 23, 1961 — November 8, 2016

Eileen Lee was born April 23rd, 1961 in Brooklyn NYC to Moses Jiggetts and Joyce (Johnson) Jiggetts. She was the fourth child and the third daughter amongst her siblings.

Eileen had a true passion for the arts, entrepreneurship, and a quest for knowledge. All of that began when she was taught to sew at a very young age. Her love of art and fashion shaped much of her life. After graduating high school, she first attended Pratt Institute for courses on fashion. She married at the age of 20, moved to Maryland, and developed an in-home sewing business for children's/ women's wear and going back to school at the University of Maryland - College Park. She had graduated with a double degree with honors in Fashion Merchandising and Design.

Thereafter, she transitioned her career into teaching and starting working for the Board of Education first as a substitute then progressing to full-time teacher. She then moved into the private retail sector in various managerial positions. Unfortunately, for many years due to medical reasons related to physical therapy resulting from multiple car accidents, she was unable to work but still she taught herself new things and tested different genres of art like dollmaking and makeup artistry. When she had the opportunity, Eileen returned to work for the Board of Education, this time as a permanent substitute. Some of the schools she worked at over the length of her career as an educator included: Chesapeake Bay Middle School, Chesapeake High School, Glen Burnie High School, and North County High School. Working as a substitute teacher brought her so much joy because she was able to see so much potential in the students and their positive growth in their scholastics; she encouraged them daily to focus on bettering themselves. This was an incredibly rewarding experience for her as she constantly looked forward to watching them discover who they wanted to become.

In her personal life, she was married and divorced twice. Throughout this time, beginning at the age of 20, she had 2 sons and 4 daughters. She is succeeded by her six children: Lyle, Jillian, Caitlin, Allyson, Gabriel, and Carlynne; five grandchildren: Sereniti, Essence, Logan, Raphael, and Eli; four siblings: Gertrude, Dennis, Marissa, and Aaron; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She passed away November 8th, 2016 from medical complications at the young age of 55 yrs old.
