Elva May Thompson, a resident of Pasadena, MD for 63 years died early Thursday morning, October 20, 2011 of cancer at Baltimore Washington Medical center, in hospice care at the age of 70.
Elva was born in Baltimore, MD., and graduated Glen Burnie High School class of 1959. Elva married her sweetheart Landis Thompson, they've been married for 52 years, and they lived in their Pasadena home for 47 years. Mrs. Thompson worked at Murphy's Harundale as a waitress for 12 years before she became a cook at Kinder Care where she retired after 12 years.
Elva enjoyed gardening, cooking, and having a glass of wine outside on her porch as a way to end her day. She loved traveling to Myrtle Beach, and going on vacation to other places.
Elva is survived by her husband Landis, their 5 children, Michael and Jennifer Thompson of Delmar, Michele and Robert Grimes of Salisbury, Lisa Thompson of Pasadena, Kevin Thompson of Dunkirk, and Shawn and Katherine Thompson of Pasadena and her sister Delores Hendershot of West Virginia. She has 18 grandchildren, and 7 great-grandchildren.
Family and friends may visit Saturday Oct. 22 from 2pm-4pm and 6pm-8pm and Sunday 2pm-4pm at the family owned and operated McCully-Polyniak Funeral Home, P.A. (Pasadena). In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the cancer
