Erica Ann Marsh Ide, a longtime resident of Crofton, Maryland, passed away peacefully on December 7th. Erica was born on March 16th, 1947, in Brooklyn, NY, to the late Patricia F. (Larson) and Donald Marsh. She attended Severna Park High before transferring to Cocoa High School in Florida, where she graduated in 1965. She went on to study chemistry at the University of Florida.
Erica married Warren H. Ide, Jr. (Renny) in September of 1970 in Sudbury, Massachusetts, shortly after Renny graduated from the U. S. Naval Academy.
Erica loved her family. She believed deeply in community service and volunteered as a Girl Scout leader, teaching French at Crofton Woods Elementary, and religious education at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Parish in Crofton. Her love of young children grew throughout her life, and she was always ready to greet little ones with a smile, joke, or treat. Playing piano, guitar and flute, she was an accomplished musician. During her active years she loved running and racketball, and later enjoyed playing bridge. She read almost constantly and for most of her life was rarely seen without a book nearby.
Erica was predeceased by her parents, her sister, Elizabeth (Marsh) Mardeusz, and daughter, Alexis Diane Ide Richter. She will be deeply missed by her husband, Renny Ide, her surviving children, Peter (Catherine Ide), Elizabeth (Greg Niemann), and William (Christina Ide), grandchildren Jack, Andrew, Natalie, John, and Julie, sister, Pati Marsh (Jack Stephan), Uncle Don Larson, nieces Sarah Pilli, Megan Pilli and Kristina O'Kelley.
