Eugene Robert Bartlinski was born on December 31, 1927, in Glen Lyon, Pennsylvania, to his late parents Joseph and Caroline. He attended Southern High School in Baltimore, Maryland and left during WWII to serve as a United States Coast Guard Merchant Marine. During his service, he sailed on Liberty Ships SS John Murray Forbes, SS James DeWolf, and SS George Bancroft. His decorations include the Merchant Marine Emblem, Atlantic War Zone Bar, and Mediterranean - Middle East War Zone Bar. Shortly after his tenure in the Merchant Marines, he served 43 years as a Civil Servant with a career spanning the Veterans Administration in Washington, D.C. and the Defense Reutilization and Marketing Office at Fort Meade, Maryland and Camp Kinser, Okinawa, Japan, retiring in 1994. He spent his retirement years traveling and vacationing with family and watching football. He is survived by his wife of 42 years Tomi, two sons Michael and Matthew, three daughters Carole Hansen, Miyuki Randall, and Mika Braswell, brother Albert, 13 grandchildren, and 5 great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his son David (1972), first wife Barbara (1974), brother Joseph (2002), and sister Theresa Dexter (2012).
Relatives and friends are invited to call at the family owned and operated MCCULLY-POLYNIAK FUNERAL HOME, P.A. 3204 Mountain Road PASADENA on Monday, January 30, 2017 from 10 AM to 12 Noon at which time funeral services will be held. Interment Glen Haven Memorial Park Cemetery.
