Garlynn Curry

February 12, 1949 — November 1, 2014

On Saturday morning, the 1st of November 2014, Garlynn (Sam) Curry (nee Hammons), passed away after a brave fight against lymphoma. The world lost an amazing woman as the clock ticked over to November 1st. She taught her 3 daughters, Mary (Curry) Campbell, Diana (Annie Curry) Pfister, and Faye Curry-Fox how to be strong, loving women, sisters, daughters, & mothers by giving us each the best example. She taught her only son, Edgar (Curtis) Curry to be a strong, loving man who brings happiness and support to his family and friends. Showing Curt how to treat his love & her newest daughter, Kelly Peach, with love, respect and humor. She has created a family full of those who are related by biology, as well as bonds of love, trust, and acceptance, and she will be missed by so very many. Her love of family has been passed to her grandchildren, Hope (Campbell) Kohlhaus & her husband John, Justin Campbell & his wife AJ Campbell, Joshua Pfister & his love Sara, and Frank Fox Jr & his wife Melissa. Her family was made fuller & happier by the addition of her great-grandchildren, Ashley Fox, Alex Fox, Tiffany Fox-Peña, Nate Fox and Nathan Kohlhaus. Sam loved spending her free time traveling with her loving soulmate, James (Jim) White. They spent their time exploring beaches, hunting seashells, climbing lighthouses, sharing love, laughs and happiness together. Sam happily opened her heart and family to include Frank Fox Sr, David Pfister and Rick Angelo as her daughters found love in their lives.

Garlynn is survived by her children, grandchildren and boyfriend mentioned above, as well as her father Elza Hammons, her sister Charlotte (Hammons) Champ & her husband Albert Champ Jr., nieces Crystal Champ and Jessi (Champ) Cummings & her husband Tommy and great-nephews Caden, Landon & Donovan. She was preceded in death by her mother Gladys (Fletcher) Hammons, her brother Dorsey Hammons, and many beloved aunts, uncles, and grandparents.

Although we would like to list all of the many people who were close and loved by Sam, it is impossible to list all of the lives that she has touched with her kindness, her smile, her love and true awesomeness. Though we are all gripped with sadness, she reminded us in her last hours that we can only be sad for a few moments, then we have to be happy that she is still with us in our hearts, and she suffers no more.

Family and friends are invited to call at the family owned and opearted McCULLY-POLYNIAK FUNERAL HOME, P.A. 3204 Mountain Road PASADENA on Monday from 3-5 & 7-9PM. Where a funeral service will take place on Tuesday at 10AM. Interment Private.
