Gerald Distel, Sr.

Gerald Lee Distel, Sr. "Bud" suddenly passed away on August 31, 2022. Beloved husband of 65 years to Mary Distel; loving father of Mary Thompson (Tim), Gerald Distel, Jr. (Mary) and Michele Martinez; dear grandfather of Gerald Distel III, the late Crystal Poling, Tiffany Lanahan (Nicholas), Greg Poling (Nicole), Krystina Poling, the late Brett Martinez (Lauren) and Cody Martinez (Corine); dear great-grandfather of 8. Also survived by his brothers Robert and Marvin Distel and brothers-in-law Jimmy and Vincent Farace. Bud was predeceased by his parents Marshall and Catherine Distel.

Bud lived in the Lakeland Community for 49 years before moving to Woodbine in Carroll County where he lived for the past 17 years. He worked for A&P for over 20 years then he worked for John Jeffries for 17 years where he would eventually retire from. After retirement he began working for McCully-Polyniak Funeral Home part time for over 20 years. He loved his time working there and was sad to stop but his health had begun to decline. In his spare time, he also enjoyed woodworking, cutting his grass and spending time at his shore home. He will be dearly missed by all.

Family and friends are invited to call at the family owned and operated McCULLY-POLYNIAK FUNERAL HOME, P.A. 3204 Mountain Road Pasadena, Maryland 21122 on Tuesday September 6, 2022 from 3-5 & 7-9 PM. A funeral service will be held on Tuesday evening at 7:30 PM. Cremation to follow.
