Harry Barnabae

Biography

Harry I. Barnabae, 78 years of age succumbed to a rare and incurable Cardiac Amyloidosis at his home on September 25th surrounded by his loving wife and family. He is preceded in death by his parents Fannie and Angelo Barnabae and brother Tange.
Harry was born in Baltimore and lived in Anne Arundel County since marriage. He retired from Western Electric as a Section Chief, Management of Support Services. He was a former member of Our Lady of the Chesapeake Church and more recently of St. Philip Neri in Linthicum.
A graduate of Southern High School, he excelled in wrestling, football and boxing. He attended Johns Hopkins University as well. He later served in the Marine Corp. A devout family man he was an active participant in Politics and community affairs, as well as being an advocate for recreational facilities for youth activities. He was the man behind the scenes for his wife's child care operation of 36 years. He was a Jack-of-all-Trades; and as such, he maintained the facility continually so that it remained in top notch condition for the children.
Nicknamed "PUNCHY", he was one of the original members of the Southwestern Police Boys Club. Because he was a champion boxer and recipient of many awards, he will be inducted into the Maryland Boxing Hall-Of-Fame in November. He continued to be an active athlete over the years, a runner and he "Worked Out" at Bally's for over 20 years.
Harry is survived by his wife of 53 years, Carol Pellicciotti Barnabae; his sons,, Harry A and Bryan both of Glen Burnie, a daughter Monica of Columbia, 5 grandsons, brothers Angelo, Vince and Joe all of Catonsville and a sister Jenny of Baltimore, and many nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are invited to call at the family owned and operated MCCULLY-POLYNIAK FUNERAL HOME, P.A. 3204 Mountain Road PASADENA on Wednesday 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 PM. Where family and friends will gather on Thursday at 11:15 AM and proceed to St. Philip Neri Church (Linthicum) for a 12 Noon Funeral Mass. Interment Crestlawn Memorial Park Gardens, Marriottsville. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the St. Jude Shrine 308 North Paca Street Baltimore, Maryland 21201.
