Harry Michael Lawson, Sr, passed away on July 1, 2023, at age of 79 and went to be with his maker. Youngest son of Julia and John, he was preceded in death by his parents and four siblings. Mike met the love of his life, Joyce, at a beach while taking off work the only day in an entire summer. They married shortly thereafter and had three children together. He is survived by Joyce, his wife of 60 years. Proud father of daughters Teresa and Cathy and son, the late Mike Jr, and daughter-in-law Nicole. Nothing made him smile more than being with his seven grandchildren, Matthew, Jeremy, Joshua, Kyle, Paul, Brooke and Ashley. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews. Mike's happiest times were spent with his grandchildren, playing board games, having balloon battles, fishing, discussing the stock market or just talking and offering sage advice based on his many life experiences. Education was a passion for this McDonogh School and Johns Hopkins University graduate. He retired from teaching high school math after 40 years and also served as a night school principal. He was very active in scouting and obtained the rank of Eagle Scout before becoming a scout leader. A man of great faith, he will be remembered for always wanting to give back to a world who gave so much to him from his humble beginnings in South Baltimore.
