Jeffrey ‘Jeff’ Lynn Potter, beloved husband, father, Pap Pap, and brother, passed away Thursday, May 23 at his home in Pasadena, MD, surrounded by his family.
He was born June 14,1954, in Freeport, PA to Harry Raymond and Kathleen (Elliott) Potter. He met the love of his life, Sheryl (Ruby) Potter, in high school, and they married in 1975, spending almost 50 years together building their beautiful life. They were blessed with two children, Tracey Lynne and Eric Raymond, and four grandchildren, Berkeley Lynne, Hannah Rose, Harlen Jeffrey, and Wyatt Jon, who were the joy of his life.
Jeff was a star baseball player in high school and spent time in the minor leagues directly after graduation. He continued to love baseball throughout his life, and for the last 15 years, used baseball as a vehicle to help teenagers – and adults – learn valuable life lessons through working together and giving of themselves for the benefit of others. He taught and lived four key tenets that he believed in deeply: passion, respect, selflessness, and hard work. He touched thousands of lives and helped develop young teenagers into caring and strong adults who continue to carry forth his legacy.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his oldest sibling Harry James “Jim” Potter and is survived by his wife, children, grandchildren, and brothers Dave and Rich (Martha) Potter, sisters Chris (Ron) Fuller and Susie (Tyrone) Couch, sister-in-law Sue Potter, and many nieces, nephews, and in-laws.
Jeff leaves a beautiful legacy and cherished memories for everyone who knew him. He would be the last person to want sympathy and the first to encourage everyone to take any sadness or regret and ‘flip it’ to find the positive and a way to do good in the world.
