Pasadena

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Joan Marie Wright, who left us unexpectedly on December 17, 2024, following a sudden decline in her health. Joan was born on October 23, 1949, in Baltimore, MD, to the late William and Nellie Hubbard. She was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend, leaving behind a legacy of love and cherished memories. Joan is survived by her devoted husband, Duncan Wright; her treasured daughter, Lisa Keefer, son in law, Matt Keefer; and her adored grandchildren, Jackson and Chloe Keefer. She also leaves behind her dear stepdaughter, Maureen Cronvich Wright; her beloved younger brother, Vance Hubbard; and his children, Brittany, Brandon, Emily, and Abby Hubbard, as well as nephew Herbert “Peanut” Hines, niece Laura Diegel, and numerous great-nieces and nephews, and friends who all adored her. Joan was preceded in death by her parents, William and Nellie Hubbard, and her sister, Patricia Nims. Joan had a deep love for family, and her home was a welcoming place where many memorable gatherings took place. She enjoyed spending time at her vacation home in Ocean City, MD, and was known for organizing special family vacations to places like Deep Creek Lake, New York City, Martha’s Vineyard, and Disney World. A lover of music, Joan once surprised her mother with an Elvis impersonator, showing her sense of fun and thoughtfulness. Joan had several treasured pets over the years that she adored like family- Perky, Tara, Rio and Sophie. One of Joan's greatest gifts was her infectious laughter and quick wit. She had a unique ability to make anyone laugh, and so many of our family's fondest memories revolve around moments of laughing until we cried. Her sense of humor was a source of joy and warmth for everyone she encountered. Joan’s family loved to tease her about her endless worrying, but this worry was another testament to the love and care she had for her family. She especially treasured the younger generation, always excited to receive photos and updates about her grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. Joan was the queen of Christmas, a holiday she made extra special each year. So many of the family's best memories are tied to Joan, from her generous spirit to her unwavering love and care. Her presence will be deeply missed, but her spirit and the joy she brought to those around her will live on in the hearts of all who knew her.
