Joan A. Woolsoncroft, 88, of Millersville MD, passed away peacefully at home on December 19, 2022.
Joan was born on May 20, 1934, to Cordie and Martha (nee Gillum) Adams in Greenup, KY. While in elementary school, Joan and her family moved to Baltimore where she lived until her marriage to John O. Woolsoncroft in 1967. During her marriage to John, Joan started working for Westinghouse as a wire assembly engineer building cables and assemblies for various defense radar systems. Joan proudly worked at Westinghouse until she retired in May 1994. After retirement, Joan utilized her ability with small assembly items to build and furnish numerous doll houses. When she wasn’t working on her doll houses, Joan was playing poker and enjoying sporting events, especially football and soccer. John and Joan held season tickets to the Baltimore Colts and later she and her daughter had season tickets to the Baltimore Stallions and Baltimore Blast teams.
Joan especially loved cheering for her kids and grandkids during their games and theatrical shows. Joan loved her family and friends dearly. Her children and grandchildren were the light of her life and she cherished her brother and sisters. She was an amazing Mom, Mommom, sister, aunt and friend. She touched the lives of so many people. Known by so many as Joanie, Joanie-Baby, and Mommom, Joan will be truly missed.
Joan is survived by her three children, Malinda, Keith, and Marybeth and their spouses, Sam, Lorrie, and Steve; seven grandchildren, Ashley, Lauren and her husband Rob, Linsey, Alex, Joey, and Carson; one great-grandson, Elijah; one sister, Frances, in addition to numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. Joan is preceded in death by her husband, John; father, Cordie; mother, Martha; sister, Joyce; and brother, Garry.
Relatives and friends are invited to call at the family owned and operated MCCULLY-POLYNIAK FUNERAL HOME, P.A. 3204 Mountain Road PASADENA on Wednesday, December 21, 2022, from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 pm. Where funeral services will be held on Thursday at 1:30 pm. Interment Cedar Hill Cemetery. Donations may be made to the American Diabetes Association or NephCure an organization very dear to Joan as they work to find a cure for a rare kidney disease a grandchild fights.
