John H. Lucas, III 68 of Pasadena, died Saturday evening January 15, 2011 in Mt. Juliet, Tenn. Affectionately known as "Jack," he was in Nashville with his wife Joanne visiting his son Chris, a singer for the country duo LoCash Cowboys, daughter-in-law Kaitlyn and grandson Caden when he passed away.
A 24 year resident of Pasadena, Jack was born August 14, 1942 in Baltimore. He graduated from Wicomico Senior High School in Salisbury in 1960. He served from 1960-1966 in the United States Army.
For 32 years, Jack was employed by Bank of America before retiring in 2002. In his retirement Jack worked for Big Vanilla Athletic Clubs in both Arnold and Pasadena. A staple at the clubs, his infectious smile and booming laugh brought joy to club members and employees on a daily basis.
Outside of his professional life, Jack was a mainstay at Archbishop Spalding High School Athletics Hall of Fame for "Unparalleled Service" as it reads on his induction plaque. A life-long Baltimore sports fan, Jack loved the Orioles, Colts, Terps and ultimately the Ravens.
He was preceded in death by his father John H. Lucas, Jr and his mother Frances Lucas.
In addition to his son Christopher John Lucas, Jack is survived by his wife of eight years Joanne Lucas; one step-son Jeff Paxson; two stepdaughters, Stephanie Barchanowicz and Amanda Hunter; Seven grandchildren, Andrew Paxson, Taylor Barchanowicz, Tucker Paxson, Reese Barchanowicz, Camden Hunter, Caroline Paxson, Caden John Lucas and an eighth on the way; a sister, Cindy DuBuque, two daughters-in-law, Kaitlyn Lucas and Mary Paxson; two sons-in-law, Shawn Barchanowicz and Kirk Hunter; a nephew, Jean Paul DuBuque, a niece Lisa Bujnicki and an aunt, Madeline Lucas. Chris, Jeff, Stephanie and Amanda are all graduates of Archbishop Spalding where they participated heavily in its athletics program.
Relatives and friends are invited to call at the family owned and operated MCCULLY-POLYNIAK FUNERAL HOME, P.A. 3204 Mountain Road PASADENA on Thursday 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 PM. A funeral Mass will be held in St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church 689 Ritchie Highway (Severna Park) on Friday at 12:30 PM. Interment Private.
A reception will be held following the funeral at Big Vanilla Athletic Club 26 Magothy Beach Road Pasadena, Maryland. 21122.
