John K Sattler went home to the Lord Tuesday August 24, 2021 after a five year battle with cancer. John was born June 1, 1937 in Danville, Illinois and was the youngest of 4 children. He often spoke of his wonderful outdoorsy childhood filled with friends, good hunting dogs, and family. John graduated from Ogden HS in 1955 with a class of 15 students. He attended Eastern Illinois University where he studied physics. John joined the US Army soon after and quickly rose to the rank of E-5. This experience and his cryptology/telecom skills led to a 35 year career with the National Security Agency. John was a patriot and extremely proud of his work with the NSA. He spent much of his career working in South East Asia and Europe. After retirement John filled his days with fishing, gardening, and the constant filling of his bird feeders.
John was predeceased by his parents William R. Sattler and Mureline Hiser nee Holler, and by his beloved wife and fishing partner of 24 years Lorraine Sattler nee Schultz. John will be missed by his older siblings Billie Joyce Busboom, Robert Sattler, and Thomas Sattler but hopes to be reunited with them in heaven. John is survived by his son William H. Sattler of Pasadena and his daughter Mary Case Pipes of Fairfield, VT. John was blessed with 6 grandchildren Zachariah John, Samantha Case, Rachel Sunshine, Hattie Mureline, Ellen Carole, and Jenna Rose. Zachariah and his wife Sara blessed John with 2 beautiful great grandsons Brock William, Luke Alexander and Samantha Case blessed him with Hunter Stanley.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday August 31, 2021 at 10 AM at St. John the Evangelist Roman Catholic Church 689 Ritchie Highway Severna Park, Maryland 21146. Interment Glen Haven Memorial Park.
