JOHN ELMER SIMMS beloved husband of 45 years to the late Katherine Simms and Helen Berlau; devoted father of Cheryl Lynne Stewart and husband Michael, the late Debbie Palansky and husband Daniel, Karen Mani, Denise Gibbs and husband James; loving grandfather of David L. Soaper II, Amy Jo Laughter, Kenneth J. Morris II, Michael James Hofstetter, John Eric Hofstetter, Matthew Lee Hofstetter and Shaun Marcus Gibbs, dear great-grandfather of Alayna Katherine Morris, Melissa Meree Whitney, Desmond Charlie Eric Hofstetter, Ethan Michael Laughter, Kalli Marie Hofstetter, Jude Phillip Hofstetter and Caleb Matthew Hofstetter.
John a longtime resident of both South Baltimore and Brooklyn Park was born in Maryland on February 10, 1935 and died at Baltimore Washington Medical Center on November 17, 2014. He served in the U.S. Navy and was honorably discharged. He worked at Pep Lines, News American and various production companies through the Teamsters Local 355 Union.
Family and friends are invited to call at the family owned and operated McCULLY-POLYNIAK FUNERAL HOME, P.A. 237 E. Patapsco Avenue BROOKLYN on Saturday from 1-4 PM. A memorial service will take place at 3PM. Interment private.
