John Ray Keefer 81, born in Pennsylvania on February 5, 1938 to Martha Nitterwright and Charles Keefer, died Monday August 5, 2019 at home surrounded by his loved ones. He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Joan Elizabeth (Walters), his 3 children Sherry (Bill) Humphreys, Pasadena, MD, John Keefer, Jr.,Pasadena, MD and Karen (Allen) Seward, Grasonville, MD, and his sister Becky Dayton, Baltimore, MD. "Jack" played football and Lacrosse for Southern High School where he was the President of his class. He received the "McCormick Unsung Hero Award" for his dedication to sports. He served for the U.S. Marines and was a very proud veteran. Jack married Joan Walters on April 30, 1960 in Baltimore, MD. He worked for BG&E where he remained until his retirement. Jack enjoyed spending time with his wife and family. He loved oil painting, gardening, swimming and helping his children with home improvement projects. He was what you could call a "Jack of all trades". If anyone had a question about a home project he knew the answer. He loved sitting at the wharf with his coffee talking to the boaters and fisherman everyday. Jack was a devoted husband, and an amazing father, grandfather, brother, uncle and a true friend to 100's over the years. He could be on vacation somewhere and he would run into someone he knew. Jack made everyone that was lucky enough to meet him laugh and smile, he was truly a beautiful soul.
