Joseph J. Cegelski was the loving son of the late Edward P. Cegelski and the late Catherine B. Cegelski, proud brother of Edward A. Cegelski, Sr, his late sister Helene Vaeth, and an amazing uncle and great uncle to many nieces and nephews.
Joe had a passion for teaching, he taught at Mount Saint Joseph for 50 years and several years at Anne Arundel Community College. Students loved his humor and personality because of his quick wit; he was one of a kind. His teaching style kept students engaged, while still laughing. He has touched the lives of so many, helping them academically and professionally by motivating them to strive for success. In 2023, a mathematics award was named in his honor. He has taught up to three generations and his impact to those is exponential. He was respected by students and faculty alike, keeping close relationships throughout the years. Not only was he a teacher but a mentor to all.
He always enjoyed hosting get-togethers with family and friends. Joe will be remembered as the life of the party, always the one laughing the hardest in the room. In addition to people, he loved his pets, Tico and Rubin and treated them as royalty. During retirement he enjoyed his garden, bird feeding, watching classic movies and collecting old comic books.
Joe had so much respect from family, friends, and those that he had taught because of his cheerful and lively spirit that will always be remembered. Having peace with the Lord, Joe passed away at home with his pets who he loved as much as his family and friends.
