Joseph “Joe”E. Koennig Jr., 68, of Severn, died January 26 at Baltimore Washington Medical Center. Born August 4, 1945 to the late Joseph Earl Koennig Sr. and Mildred Elizabeth Koennig (nee Nichols), Joe attended Andover and Glen Burnie High Schools. He was a police officer for Anne Arundel County, retired, then worked for the Office of the Inspector General of Maryland. He was a member of the FOP, Masons, Bodkin Yacht Club, the Moose, and the Ferndale Community Center. He enjoyed boating and spending time with his friends and canine companion, “Sneaky Pete”.
In addition to his parents, Joe was preceded in death by his son, John Eric Koennig.
He is survived by his wife, Arlene Ault-Koennig; daughter, Kimberlee Davis; three grandchildren, John Koennig Jr., Nicholas Davis and Bree-Anna Galarneau; great-granddaughter, Erica Stewart; and former wives, Barbara Wise and Beverly Luzi
Visitation is from 3 to 5 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m., Thursday, January 30 at McCully-Polyniak Funeral Home, P. A., 3204 Mountain Rd., Pasadena, where a funeral service will be held 1 p.m., Friday, January 31 followed by interment in Glen Haven Memorial Park. A Celebration of Joe's Life will be held at Bodkin Yacht Club following interment.
