Karen Plourde
On March 31, 2024, on the day we celebrate the resurrection of our Lord and Savior, our beloved Karen joined the Lord in paradise. Karen passed peacefully at home surrounded by loved ones after her earthly body succumbed to the damages of cancer. Despite her death being untimely, she handled her fate with bravery and grace, consistent with how she lived her life.
Karen was a beautiful person with a heart that loved without limits. Her love extended to all God’s creatures, as she strongly advocated for the just treatment of animals. She donated to many rescue organizations and personally rescued many animals throughout her life.
Effortlessly brilliant, she was known for her intellectual ability, and many sought after her advice, especially her only child, Danielle Van Dam.
Known for her humor, her laugh was contagious, and her presence would light up any room. She had a kind and gentle soul, while maintaining strength and integrity. A virtuous woman.
Karen was born to Thomas and Jean Plourde on August 28, 1966, in Cheverly, Maryland. Aside from a 10 year stay in Charlotte, North Carolina, she lived most of her life in Pasadena, Maryland. She was a mother to daughter Danielle Van Dam. Grandmother to Rhea Morgan and Kal-El Morgan. Girlfriend of William Corkran. She was adored by all her fur babies, especially Elliott Plourde.
Karen is proceeded in death by her grandparents Martha and James Conor of Odenton, Maryland and Margaret and Harry Plourde of East Hampton, Massachusetts.
In lieu of flowers, it is requested that donations be sent to any reputable animal rescue.
A mass of Christian burial will be held at:
