Leonard A Switala Jr. 87, peacefully passed away September 30, 2017 at his Pasadena home alongside his loving caregivers, daughters Karen and Maryann, assisted recently by Heartland Hospice. He was born December 25, 1929 in Buffalo, NY to the late Leonard and Lottie Switala. Mr. Switala served in the United States Air Force and retired civilian service from National Security Agency. He was a member of Our Lady of the Chesapeake Catholic Church and served as past Grand Knight for Knights of Columbus Council 10966.
He was the beloved husband of the late Carolyn M. Switala(née Fazzolari) sharing 55 years of marriage. Dearest brother of Florence Czarnecki and the late Sophie Mirowski. Devoted Father of Leonard and Norma Switala, Maryann and late Don Ingram, John and Donna Switala, Karen and Larry Walsh, Steve and Christie Switala, Sally and Bobby Darin. As a proud Grandfather, he was dedicated to his 13 grandchildren, their spouses and significant others. He cherished the time with his 14+ great-grand children. He enjoyed spending time with the Switala and Fazzolari family’s, his many loving nieces and nephews, their children and grandchildren, often being thought of as his own. Leonard, along with his late wife Carolyn, provided a legacy creating life long bonds with family and friends.
Family and friends are invited to call at the family owned and operated McCULLY-POLYNIAK FUNERAL HOME, P.A. 3204 Mountain Road (PASADENA) on Wednesday October 4, 2017 from 3-5 & 7-9 PM. Where a Funeral Mass will be held at Our Lady of the Chesapeake Catholic Church 8325 Ventnor Road Pasadena, Maryland 21122 on Thursday October 5, 2017 at 1 PM. Interment Crownsville Veteran Cemetery.
