Lori Cornwell

February 2, 1979 — February 10, 2018

Lori Lee Cornwell, a lifelong resident of Anne Arundel County, passed away suddenly at her home in Pasadena, Maryland on Saturday, February 10, 2018. She was 39.

Lori was born on February 2, 1979 in Baltimore, Maryland to Carol Lynn Burkhardt and H. Lee Cornwell Jr. She grew up in Glen Burnie and was a 1997 graduate of Glen Burnie High School, where she was a part of the GBHS Vocal Ensemble. She attended college at Point Park University, where she majored in film and cinematography. She also studied social work at Anne Arundel Community College.

She worked for the Baltimore Orioles as a mascot assistant, and traveled to various destinations during her employment with Northwest Airlines.

Lori was a die hard Star Wars fan, bequeathing her love for Star Wars to her son, William, a true fandom and pastime they shared together. She also enjoyed fishing with William, family and friends at her lifelong fishing hole, Lake Waterford Park. Lori enjoyed fixing things around the house and had extensive knowledge of many things that others wouldn't know. She saw the best in people and was always there to lend a hand to anyone in need. Lori went above and beyond for those she loved and she was a huge help to her elderly neighbors and their disabled son.

Most importantly, Lori was William's Mommy and a strong, devoted advocate for children with autism and special needs.

Lori is survived by her beloved son, William Thomas Nowakowski III; her parents, Carol Burkhardt and H. Lee Cornwell and wife Christina; her sisters, Shannon Shacka and husband Mark, and Stephanie Turner; four nephews, Damian, Trey, Dominik and Zachary Shacka; three nieces, Shaianne and Brandi Turner and Rachael Shacka. She is also survived by many aunts, uncles, cousins and extended family members, as well as many friends who she adored and cherished.

Lori is preceded in death by her maternal grandmother, Janet Cross; her paternal grandmother, Helen Cornwell; her paternal grandfather, Harvey Cornwell; and her uncles, Richard Cornwell and John Moyer.
