Montgomery, Mark Allen on November 16, 2016. Mark is preceded in death by his parents Jack and Flossy Montgomery, and his brother Gary. He is survived by his wife Susan of 26 years, his son Nathan and his daughters Amanda and Amber. Mark was born in Washington, DC on September 2, 1959. He grew up in Accokeek, MD and has lived in Pasadena, MD for the last 27 years. He was a career firefighter for 30 years and retired in 2011 as Fire Chief. Mark was a member of the Dunkirk Volunteer Fire Department. He played minor league baseball in the New York Mets organization. He played slow pitch softball for many fire department teams, Men’s teams and Co-Ed teams over the years. He has won World Titles in every category and was the only white male to ever named to the Black National Team. He is a member of the Washington Area Slow Pitch Softball Hall of Fame. He spent many years umpiring both slow pitch and girls fast pitch softball. He served as President of the Anne Arundel Board of Officials and was the assignor for Anne Arundel County high school softball. He also spend many years officiating basketball. He was recently inducted in to the Maryland State Umpires Hall of Fame. He was a huge Baltimore Orioles and Baltimore Ravens fan.
Family and friends are invited to call at Earleigh Heights Fire Hall on Friday November 18, 2016 viewing from 1-4 pm and 6-9p m with a fire department memorial at 7:30 pm. Saturday viewing from 10-11 am with service at 11 am. His final ride will be from Earleigh Heights Fire Hall to Bachman Park in Glen Burnie with a small memorial service. In lieu of flowers, the family requests a donation be made in the name of Mark Montgomery to Hospice of the Chesapeake, 90 Ritchie Highway, Pasadena, MD 21122
