Mark Allan Platt, age 52, passed away on Sunday October 3, 2010 in the comfort of his own home on Grays Creek in Pasadena, Maryland surrounded by his family. Mark passed away after his courageous battle with Metastatic Renal Cell Carcinoma.
Mark was born on February 22, 1958 to his parents Matthew and Beatrice Platt, Jr. He enjoyed his childhood with his six siblings. Mark graduated from Andover High School in 1977. He worked for Baltimore Gas and Electric for 36 years. On September 1, 1979 he married his childhood sweetheart Sheri Amundsen. His life revolved around their two daughters and three grandchildren. Mark loved family gatherings, crabbing, boating and the company of his good friends.
He was preceded in death by his brother Michael. Together they will be watching over his wife of 31 years, Sheri Platt, his children, Courtney and Christopher Miller, Brianne and Jonathan Miller and Max-Allan Platt. His grandchildren Delaney, Chase and Emersen, his parents Matthew Platt, Jr. and Bertrice Platt, his siblings Matthew Platt, III, Linda Fitzhenry, Pamela Platt, Kenneth Platt and Kathleen Platt, his many nieces and nephews, his dog Cooper, and his exceptional friends.
Relatives and friends are invited to call at the family owned and operated MCCULLY-POLYNIAK FUNERAL HOME, P.A. 3204 Mountain Road PASADENA on Tuesday and Wednesday 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 PM. Family and friends will gather on Thursday at the Our Lady of the Chesapeake Church 8325 Ventnor Road PASADENA for a 3:00 PM Mass. Interment Private.
Marks family would like to thank all of the caring and hardworking members of the Stem Cell Transplant Team at NIH for giving him hope and a fighting chance. Please include a donation letter with Mark's name and address and indicate Renal Cell Stem Cell Transplant Research.
