Mary Rose Edelen Councill, the beloved wife of Woodrow W. Councill (deceased) succumbed to a long-term illness at her home on Rock Creek in Pasadena on September 29, 2012. She was 86.

Born in Washington D.C. and raised is Bryantown, MD Mary Rose attended the University of Maryland and the College of Notre Dame where she studied economics. After working for the Department of the Interior, Mary Rose joined Hopkins Furniture. A devoted member of the Colonial Dames Mary Rose regularly volunteered at Mount Clair Mansion. She was formerly a member of The Three Arts Club and Baltimore Country Club. Her interests included sailing, skiing, crabbing, antiques, a love of animals, but most importantly spending time with "the children."

Mary Rose is survived by her son Frank Williams of Springfield, MA a daughter, Peggy Williams of Harper's Ferry, WV and two step children, Virginia Councill of Baltimore and Richard Councill of Monkton, MD. There is one granddaughter, six grandsons, and one great grandson: Catherine Berge, Collin Williams, Matthew Councill, Zachary Williams, Christopher Councill, Patrick Williams, Timothy Councill, and Miles Williams. Mary Rose is also survived by her sister Margaret Hopkins of Annapolis.

A Mass will be held on Saturday, October 6th at 11:00am at Our Lady of the Chesapeake, 8325 Ventnor Road, Pasadena (410) 255-3871 (www.olchesapeake.org) Reception will follow the Mass at the home of Mary Rose Councill.
