Mary Hope Grantland passed away peacefully at the age of 95 on November 3, 2016. She was born in Baltimore, MD and lived in Linthicum, MD.
Mary retired from the State of Maryland where she worked at the Key Bridge. She was a dedicated member of St. John’s Lutheran Church where she was part of the WELCA group. Some of Mary’s hobbies were making candy at the church, reading, crocheting, and baking. She loved her family deeply and enjoyed spending time with them.
Mary is preceded in death by her husband Melville Franklin Grantland, parents Herbert and Katherine Anna Garrett, and siblings Charles Garrett, Vera Keith, Paul Garrett, and Richard Garrett.
She is survived by her children; daughter, Karen (Clifford) Hevner of Johnsville, MD; son, Mark (Arlene) Grantland of Finksburg, MD; daughter, Mary Kay Grantland of Linthicum, MD; son, Kevin (Liz) Grantland of Hampstead, MD. Grandchildren: Kirstie (Jason) Winn, John Grantland, Tymon (Kara) Hevner, Elyssa Hevner, Katherine Grantland, Lauren Grantland, and Garrett Grantland. She is also survived by her great grandchildren: Emma Grantland, Jacob Grantland, Baylee Winn, Danika Winn, and Evryn Hevner.
The family will be receiving friends on Thursday, November 10, 2016 from 2- 6:30 PM and Friday from 9 - 10 AM in St. John Lutheran Church, 300 West Maple Road, Linthicum Heights, MD. Funeral services will be on Friday, November 11, 2016 at 10 a.m. in St. John Lutheran Church. Interment following Glen Haven Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that if you are so moved, a donation can be made to St. John’s Lutheran Church Memorial and Thanksgiving fund in memory of Mary Grantland.
