Betty Macola, Mary Betty Macola, Betty, Bett, Mom, Grandma, Aunt Betty was born in Baltimore, November 26, 1925. ( Really 1924 but she used 1925) She passed peacefully in her sleep Monday morning May 19, 2014. She was preceded in death by her parents Carey and Mary Williams, her brother George McGinnis, her husband of 65 years, Joe Macola, Sr., many, many, many loving relations and best friends.
She will be remembered in the minds, hearts and very souls of her immediate family, their children and their children's children for generations to come. Betty had two children, her daughter, Barbara (Macola) Dockery, her husband Jim Dockery Sr., and her son Joe Macola, Jr. and his wife Donna (Sell) Macola.
She had five grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren with one more on the way.
The following in order of their earthly arrival: Jim Dockery Jr. his wife Michelle, Mike Dockery his wife Terri and their children Mike Jr., Taylor, and Nicholas; Debbie (Dockery) Metzler her husband Larry and their children Larry Jr., Chris and Andrew; Katie (Macola) Young and her husband Brad and their children Brayden and Collin; Amy (Macola) Holt and her husband Rick, their son Levi and a new one on the way.
Betty’s greatest endeavor was her family. Her life was making sure that her family was taken care of in every possible manner. Many times her acts of personal and physical sacrifice went above and beyond what others would think humanly possible. All of you who knew her or know someone who knew her, know exactly what I’m talking about.
Betty was self-employed in many occupations. She was a world class chef and food preserver. She was the writer, producer, director and star of our first reality show “Life with the Macola’s”. She was CEO and CFO of Macola Enterprises. She ran housekeeping, laundry, and valet. She was a nanny. She ran assisted living. She was also a horticulturist, secretary, typist, accounts receivable and payable clerk, investor, teacher, philosopher, banker, referee, family and community EMT. She was also chauffeur, nurse, tutor, seamstress, painter, archivist, family crisis counselor, a critic, inventor and motivational speaker. She balanced all of this while being a devoted daughter, wife, mother, grandmother, aunt and best friend.
She was an example of what is good in people. Her life will be forever woven into the moral fiber of her family for generations to come. We will miss you, but will never forget you.

There’s magic in a Mother’s touch,
and sunshine in her smile.
There’s love in everything she does
to make our lives worthwhile.
We can find both hope and courage
Just by looking in her eyes.
Her laughter is a source of joy,
her words are warm and wise.
There is a kindness and compassion
to be found in her embrace,
and we see the light of heaven
shining from a Mother’s face.
