Mary M. Menikheim (nee Frankowski) of Glen Burnie, Maryland, died on September 6 after suffering from pneumonia and heart failure.
Ms. Menikheim was raised in a Baltimore orphanage, making her way as an independent woman soon after leaving there. She was employed for many years by Glen Ridge Apartments in Glen Burnie.
Mary lived for 45 years in the Silver Sands community of Glen Burnie, where she enjoyed swimming, crabbing, and boating on Stoney Creek. Many in the community came to meet and know Mary by her regular presence on her front porch.
She also was an avid animal lover, providing a home for countless dogs and cats, many of which were neighborhood strays. She also supported animal welfare organizations.
Mary is survived by a daughter, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, in addition to her friend of 52 years, Barbara McLane.
Family and friends are invited to call at the family owned and operated McCULLY-POLYNIAK FUNERAL HOME, P.A. 3204 Mountain Road (PASADENA) on Monday September 12, 2016 from 3-5 & 7-9 PM. Where a funeral service will be held on Tuesday September 13, 2016 at 11 AM. Interment Cedar Hill Cemetery.
