Pasadena — Mary Margaret Saboury (née Monaghan), died Thursday the 29th of June at Hospice of the Chesapeake. She was born in Baltimore on August 16, 1934 to the late Charles M. and Winifred T. Monaghan and moved with her husband, Gordon Saboury, to Pasadena from Hamden in 1960 to raise their family.
Mary loved socializing with friends and family, and welcomed everyone into her home as if they were relatives. She handled challenges with grace, strength, and humor and always had the perfect wisecrack for any situation. Later in life, Mary enjoyed traveling around the US, especially to San Diego and Maui to visit her grandchildren. She had a lifelong career as a nanny and caretaker, most recently caring for the Howie Family (Pat, Bill, Ben and Erin) of Severna Park for 20 years ‑‑ until 2013.
Husband, Gordon Saboury, and sister, Patricia Collurafici, precede Mary in death. She is survived and remembered with love by her daughters, Donna Fordyce, Terry Krakovitz, and Barbara Walker (Larry); brothers, Charles Monaghan, Joseph Monaghan (Nancy), and James Monaghan; sisters, Winifred Mitchell and Carolyn Komber; and grandchildren, Jennifer Fordyce (Māhie), Matthew Fordyce, Ashley Grim (Josh), and Connor Walker. She will also be remembered in the hearts of her many nieces and nephews and her caregiver Pichenda Oum and family (Dan, Jessica, and Elisa), whom she loved to the moon and back.
Viewings will be held at the family owned and operated McCULLY-POLYNIAK FUNERAL HOME, P.A.3204 Mountain Road (PASADENA) on Sunday, July 2 from 3-5 and 7-9 p.m. Where a funeral service will be held on Monday at 10 a.m. Interment will follow at Baldwin United Methodist Church Cemetery, 921 Generals Highway, Millersville, Maryland 21108.
In lieu of flowers the family would appreciate donations in Mary’s name to Hospice of the Chesapeake Foundation, John & Cathy Belcher Campus, 90 Ritchie Highway, Pasadena, MD 21122-9903.
