It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Mary P. Wancowicz, a beloved mother, sister, partner, grandmother, and friend, who left this world on December 28, 2024, at the age of 71. Born on May 28, 1953, in Baltimore, Maryland, Mary lived a life rich in love and compassion,

Mary had a fulfilling career as a payroll supervisor for the City of Baltimore, for over 43 years. She was loved and respected by her co-workers.

Mary is survived by her daughter Pattie Nyotta, sister Loretta Borowski, brothers Andrew, Henry ”Butch”, Robert Wancowicz and Harry Walsh. Mary found joy in her family who she loved with all she had. Especially her daughter Pattie, who was Mary’s world.

For the past 28 years, Mary shared a partnership with Elizabeth Farinholt. Their bond was a testament to love and commitment, and they built a beautiful life together, filled with laughter, support, and shared interests. Mary was also a proud mother to her daughter, Pattie Nyotta, and a loving stepmother to Kenneth, Elizabeth Ann, and Patrick Farinholt. Her legacy continues through their grandchildren that she adored and cherished deeply.

Mary was a devoted member of the pasadena United Methodists Church, where she found a second family and a sense of purpose. Her faith was a guiding force in her life, and she often participated in church activities, always ready to lend a helping hand and share her generous spirit.

In her leisure time, Mary enjoyed her dogs, Christian music, Maryland crabs, reading and creating memories at Ocean City, a place that held a special spot in her heart. It truly was her happy place. The simple pleasures of life brought Mary great joy.

Mary’s journey came to a close due to complications from a surgery, but her spirit will forever remain an integral part of all who knew and loved her. Her kindness, warmth, infectious laugh and unwavering support will be missed dearly.

Mary is proceeded in death by her parents Peter and Elizabeth Wancowicz, many brothers and sisters and step daughter Christine Farinholt.

A funeral service to celebrate Mary’s life will be held on February 1, 2025, at the Pasadena United Methodist Church at 2:00 PM. All who knew her are invited to join us in remembering and honoring the remarkable life of Mary P. Wancowicz.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to BARC’s of Baltimore in Mary’s memory, continuing her legacy of love for all the animals in need.

Mary P. Wancowicz leaves behind a tapestry of love and cherished memories that will resonate in the hearts of her family and friends forever. Rest in peace, dear Mary.
