SYRAN, Michael Charles, 51 of Pasadena, passed away peacefully at Baltimore-Washington Medical Center on August 18, 2011.
He was the beloved husband of Kathy Syran (Berdo), devoted father of Heather K. and her husband John H. Riner of Moneta, VA and Benjamin A. Syran of Pasadena, MD, loving son of John and his wife Mary Syran of Virginia Beach, VA and Charlotte Syran of Lovingston, VA, loving grandson of Kay Snyder of Jacksonville, FL, dear brother of Keith A. Syran of Lovingston, VA and James A. Syran of San Diego, CA, loving grandfather to Logan and Dylan Riner of Moneta, VA. He is also survived by his beloved dog, Pavlov.
Michael, a Pasadena resident for 11 years, was born January 4, 1960 in Shelbyville, Illinois, and was raised in Virginia Beach, VA where he graduated from Frank W. Cox High School in 1978. Upon graduation, he enlisted in The United States Marine Corps, where he served until 1986. He then attended Old Dominion University, where he received his Bachelor's and Master's Degrees. He then began his teaching career at Ocean Lakes High School and Frank W. Cox High School, before moving to Maryland, where he continued his work as a Special Educator for 10 years with Howard County Public Schools.
When he wasn't busy molding young minds, Michael enjoyed playing guitar, woodworking, boating, fishing and spending time with his family and many friends.
Family and friends are invited to McCully-Polyniak Funeral Home, P.A. 3204 Mountain Road Pasadena, MD on Sunday, August 28, 2011 at 2pm. Memorial Service at 3pm. A celebration of life gathering will be held immediately after at the family home in Pasadena. Burial will take place Monday, August 29, 2011 11am at Quantico National Cemetery, Quantico, VA.
