Michèle Broadie was born on the 15th of April, 1953 in Souk el Arba, Tunisia. She sadly passed away on Monday 23rd December, 2019 from Ovarian Cancer. She is survived by her son Ian and his wife Kimberly, and her daughter Lisa and her husband Chris. She will also be lovingly remembered as ‘Gigi’ by her grandchildren, Jaden, Logan and Madison.
Michèle’s nomadic feet and love of culture took her to a great many places. She lived in Algeria for many years and then moved to England to teach when she was 18 years old. She then lived in Spain and Austria before settling in Paris for 15+ years. She worked for many years at the International School of Paris where many former students and colleagues remember her for being a great friend, mentor and sister.
She then settled in Washington D.C. in 1993 where she worked at the International School for over 20 years as Director of Auxiliary programs.
Michèle spoke several languages and wanted to learn even more. She had an unparalleled thirst for knowledge and an insatiable appetite for reading- she would not just read one book on a topic! She also adored the ocean and dramatic scenery, with a keen eye for art that fed into her love of photography and music. Her intelligence, warmth and sharp, wry humor touched the lives of many people around the world, and will be greatly missed.
