Olga (Kurluk) Strauss passed away of Pneumonia Sunday, February 13, she was 93.
Olga was the daughter of Ahaphia (Agnes) (Pasiuk) and David Matveev Kurluk (Koroluk), both immigrants from czarist Russia. Olga's career included retail, banking and during WW II, munitions production. She retired after a long career with the Department of Motor Vehicles giving more time to participate in VFW events and dances.
Widowed at 46 she traveled the world, including Russia. A lifelong resident of South Baltimore, she moved to Northern Virginia in 1995. There she continued to travel, make friends and crochet her well-known quilts.
She is predeceased by brother Nicholas and David Kurluk and sisters Sophie Jacobs, Nadezda (Nadie) Mullen & Agnes Kurluk. She is survived by her nieces Olga Scardina, Sophie Borkoski & Colleen Walling; nephews Nicholas Kurluk, Craig Kurluk, Charles Jacobs, David Jacobs, James Jacobs & Patrick Mullen; and her beloved Joan Morgan.
Friends may visit Saturday, February 19, from 10 A.M. to Noon at the McCully-Polyniak Funeral Home, P.A. 237 East Patapsco Avenue. Mass will be held at 1 P.M. in the Chapel at the Holy Trinity Russian Orthodox Church Cemetery at 6464 Elibank Drive in Elkridge. A reception will follow.
