Pauline Agatha Standiford (née Kline) peacefully departed from this world on Saturday, April 18, 2020 at age 96. Pauline was born and raised in Hastings, Pennsylvania on the Kline family farm alongside her 12 siblings and loving parents. In her late teens, she moved to South Baltimore where she lived for the majority of her years. In the 1940s, she supported the war effort in making nets in a factory on Wells Street and earned a medal for her service. Baltimore is also where she met her beloved husband Melvin and where they started and raised their family. Pauline led a dynamic and full life. She was brave, tenacious, and strong, but she was also loving, genuine, and kind. She loved a good conversation and she could talk to anyone -- even strangers at the store. She was incredibly intelligent, was nearly unbeatable at Scrabble, and was a legendary card shark. To be loved by Pauline was like nothing else in the world and she touched so many people’s lives. Whether family, friend, or honorary grandchild, Pauline was fiercely loyal to her loved ones and immensely proud of each and every person she held dear. Pauline had five children Ralph Standiford (deceased), Denise Beam, Mary and John (Jack) Neill, Sandra (Sandy) and Edgar (Ned) Whittington, Melvin (Mel) Standiford and Mary Marshall. She is also survived by her grandchildren Lauren and Eric Stevens; her brother Dennis Kline; and her sister-in-law Frances Kline; as well as a robust extended family and many friends. A private funeral will take place on Wednesday, April 22, 2020. The family will host a memorial service for those who wish to celebrate Pauline when restrictions on gathering and travel are lifted. In lieu of flowers, please send memorial donations to Catholic Charities or Gilchrist Hospice in the links provided below.
