Phyllis Ann Tafoya, 78 of Pasadena, Maryland, rested in eternal peace on Thursday, June 15, 2023, after fighting a brave battle against breast cancer.
Phyllis is survived by her loving husband, Edward Tafoya, who took care of her until the very end. She is also survived by her two children Scott and Wendy and her husband George; her brothers Don and Ron, her sister Irmina; and five grandchildren: Sydney, Samantha, William, Juliana, and Joshua; and one great-grandchild Jack.
Phyllis was born on January 22, 1945. To know Phyllis was to know love. She was the calm in the storm and the peace amongst chaos. She was kind with her words and gentle with her touch. Her presence warmed hearts and comforted worried minds. Phyllis was selfless and loved her family with everything she had.
In her early years, Phyllis travels many places and studied ichthyology, going out into the bay, and studying the fish who call it home. She loved to create beautiful quilts, each telling a story of its own. Some of her other talents and hobbies included crocheting, needle point, astronomy, nature and gardening. Phyllis was an avid reader with a brilliant mind. She used her knowledge when watching Jeopardy and never missed an answer. In true Jeopardy fashion: the best wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, friend, and most loving woman. The answer is: who is Phyllis Tafoya?
Turtle Time
by Edward Tafoya
for Phyllis
Let's live:
The rest of our lives
at a turtle's pace.
Let's Love:
Each other in turtle time
So that when I kiss your
face it takes forever.
And when I say, "I Love you",
it will be forever.
