Haney, Robert Lee Sr. 80, beloved husband of sixty years to Beverly Olivia Haney (nee Rice) passed peacefully in his home surrounded by family. A loving father to his children Robert Haney Jr. and Linda, Scott Haney and his wife Susan, Stephen Haney and his wife Charlene, and Stacey Beres and her husband Rodney. Adoring grandfather to Robert Haney III, Rebecca Haney, Andrew Beres, Daniel Haney, Stephen Haney Jr., Anthony Beres, Brandon Haney, Adam Beres, Malayna Haney, Savannah Haney, and Joshua Haney. Devoted great-grandfather to Colby, Taylor, Connor, and Harper.
He was preceded in death by his parents Lawrence and Mary Evelyn Haney, and all his siblings, Evelyn, Edith, Lawrence, and Joseph, all of whom were most assuredly waiting to greet him with arms wide open at heaven’s gates.
He proudly served in the US Navy from 1954-1957 and continued his love of the water as an active boater. Robert also enjoyed camping and traveling with friends and family. He was an avid reader, enjoyed playing cards, reminiscing, and watching the Discovery channel. He retired from A & P in 1972 and went on to open successful grocery stores in Anne Arundel County. From 1972-2005 he operated Haney’s Grocery & Deli in Hanover. Above all he cherished his family and spent his days doting on them all.

A Mass of Christian Burial to celebrate Robert’s life will be held on Friday, August 11 at 11:00 am with a luncheon to follow at Our Lady of the Chesapeake Roman Catholic Church in Pasadena, 8325 Ventnor Road Pasadena Md 21122.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Our Lady of the Chesapeake Catholic Church or the Kiwanis Club of Severna Park.
