Colonel Ronald Kent Westervelt, Sr., (U.S. Army, Retired), age 78, passed away on September 9, 2024, in Fort Worth, Texas. Born on March 3, 1946, in Baltimore, MD, he dedicated 30 years of his life to the United States Army, serving with distinction and honor before retiring and spending 17 years as a ROTC Instructor with the Fort Worth Independent School District.
Ronald is survived by his beloved wife of 56 years, Diana Marie Westervelt (nee Dougherty); his sons, Ronald Kent Westervelt, Jr. (wife Trish) of Pasadena, and William Michael Westervelt of Miami, FL; grandchildren Ronald Kent Westervelt, III of Pasadena, and Conner Jacob Westervelt of Essex; three great-grandchildren; his sister Carol Smulian (husband Paul). He is preceded in death by his mother, Julia Johnston, and stepfather, Carlyle “John” Johnston.
Visitation will be held at McCully Polyniak & Collins Funeral Home, P. A. 3204 Mountain Road, Pasadena, MD 21122, on Sunday, September 22, 2024, from 3:00 pm to 5:00 pm and 7:00 pm to 9:00 pm. Where funeral services will be held on Monday, September 23, 2024, at 11 am. Interment to follow in Crownsville Veterans Cemetery, where military honors will be accorded in recognition of his service to our nation at 1 pm.
