In Loving Memory
Sandra Vallillo Johnson
May 5, 1945 – August 11, 2016
Sandra (Sandy) Vallillo Johnson: beloved wife of Andrew Johnson, devoted mother of Carrie Johnson of Mechanicsville, MD; dear sister of Michael Vallillo of Winter Park FL; adoring aunt of Christy Matthews and husband Andrew of Orlando, FL, John Vallillo and wife Melanie of Orlando, FL, Michael Vallillo Jr and wife Magen of Longwood, FL, and Katherine Broome of Tallahassee, FL; and loving great aunt of Johnny Vegas, Sheila Kate, Mary Charlotte, Mikey, Max, and Myles. She is also survived by many aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.
Sandy was born in Annapolis, Maryland on May 5, 1945 to the late John and Lillian Vallillo. She married Andy on May 24, 1980 and they lived in Pasadena, MD. She passed peacefully in her sleep at home on August 11, 2016 after a long battle with a variety of illnesses. She was 71.
She attended the University of Baltimore and worked for many years at Westinghouse as a secretary until the birth of her daughter. She volunteered at St. Jane Frances Catholic School in Riviera Beach, MD for many years. She later became the school’s computer teacher and network administrator before retiring in 2009. She touched the lives of many students and other teachers over the years, but always claimed that they taught her more than she taught them.
She surrounded herself with a fabulous group of friends who became more like family. She enjoyed playing Bingo and attending musicals at the Hippodrome Theatre in Baltimore. She loved hot tea and popsicles. She was an avid Yahtzee player and loved to play games and read on her Kindle. She always made homemade candies and would make sure her family and friends had fudge and cookies every Christmas and chocolate eggs every Easter. Family picnics and parties were never complete without Sandy’s famous potato salad.
