Sandra Dee Williams, On March 28, 1968, the late Helen and James Close were blessed with the arrival of their beautiful little girl, Sandra Dee (Sandy). Sandy was born in Washington DC and raised in Maryland. The youngest of five siblings, she was a no-nonsense mom, loving and devoted wife, grandma (often called Maw-Maw), sister, niece and Aunty.
Sandy walked with courage, and she knew how to hold folks together when necessary.
She was filled with a unique strength that allowed her to be a pillar of strength and support….helping many through the stresses of life and obstacles they encountered. With her selfless attitude, though she had several obstacles of her own, she remained supportive to everyone that needed her.
She married the love of her life, Kevin, in Washington, DC. They remained married for over seventeen (17) years until she left this earthly realm. I’m sure we can agree with her husband that she was loyal, bold and outspoken (in a good way), friendly, kind and showed strength in many ways. With a no nonsense attitude, Sandy genuinely loved us and she did not sugar coat anything but told us the truth for our benefit. Sandy reminded us to take care of our needs prior to lending a hand to others. In other words, you can’t help anyone unless you yourself are in a good position to do so.
On Tuesday May 10, 2022, at 1:03am, surrounded by loved ones, after a battle with cancer, Sandy took her flight leaving this earthly realm. She leaves behind her legacy, an amazing family, her husband Kevin, children (Michael, Andranese, Andre, Brian, Kavon, Melissa, and Jevonne (JJ), grandchildren {Damien (Unk), Michael Jr, Keimon, Peyton, Aiden, Karter, Cash, Saige, Dallas, Anthony and Royal}. Her siblings Jimmy and Sharon. Also a host of cousins, nieces and nephews. She now joins her siblings that have also transitioned….her brother Henry and sister Susie.
Sandy is loved by a large “tribe” (so to speak) of many. Her memory will forever remain in our minds and our hearts.
