Shirley Vodusek, 80, of Pasadena, Maryland, returned to her heavenly home after a valiant battle with brain cancer Thursday, September 17, 2015 surrounded by family in her Pasadena home. Her devotion to her family, her deep desire to once again be united with her belated husband, and her firm belief in God supported her in her struggle and ultimately gave her peace.
She was born September 11, 1935, in Baltimore, Maryland, the daughter of Russel Vincent Topper and Catherine Elizabeth (Kelm) Topper.
Shirley graduated from the Institute of Notre Dame in Baltimore, Maryland with the class of 1953. On April 24,1954 she was united in marriage to her best friend and sweetheart Donald Edward Vodusek where they started their lives together in Baltimore, Maryland. In 1979 they moved to their Pasadena home built by her father-in-law, brother-in-law and beloved husband.
Shirley was blessed with a large and loving family. She is reunited with her dearly departed husband Donald E. Vodusek of Pasadena, MD; Beloved Mother of four children, Donald E. Vodusek Jr.; Richard L. Vodusek; Kathleen M. (Vodusek) Francovitch and Kenneth M. Vodusek; Blessed with 10 grandchildren and 1 angel (Christopher) and 7 Great-Grandchildren. and Travis on the way.
Shirley volunteered many hours in the library and classrooms of her children’s school and chaperoned for most, if not all, of the children’s field trips. She started her working career once her children were grown, and after 34 years retired as a customer service representative and receptionist from Commercial Lighting in Elkridge Maryland. She would be the first to tell you she loved the people and the work but hated the drive. In her spare time she enjoyed listening to country music and reading but mostly spending time with her, family, children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and friends.
Relatives and friends are invited to call at the family owned and operated McCULLY-POLYNIAK FUNERAL HOME, P.A. 3204 mountain Road PASADENA on Saturday, September 19, 2015 from 2:00 until 4:00 PM at which time Rt. Rev. Paschal Morlino, O.S.B., Pastor of St. Benedicts Church will officiate a Memorial service.
